GENERAL EDUCATION AND THE UNDECIDED STUDENT |

Universities world-wide offer a plethora of “majors” that students can choose from. In fact, many new university students become rather overwhelmed by the number of choices they have. Frequently students enter the university with one major in mind and ultimately graduate with a totally different major. Solid secondary school preparation by way of a good selection of college-bound courses certainly helps guide a student toward their prospective major. Despite strong secondary school schedules, which helps formulate interest areas, and well-meaning friends and families who all offer their suggestions and opinions, the most popular major for first-year university students in the U.S. is “undecided”. It is important the students know that it is “okay” to be unsure of exactly what they want to study in the university when they are still in secondary school.
